I had planned to share an update about our recovery and how the Lord has answered so many prayers for us. I am able to walk again without the aid of a walker or a cane! Both David and I are able to drive again! David is working part time! And we have been strong enough to have our children with us for a little more than a month! We finally felt like we were getting in the groove of things, the kids were doing so well with their homeschooling, preparations for the arrival of our new baby were under way, and we were looking into what else we need to do to prepare to live in Romania. Well, on Thursday October 1, at about 1 AM my water broke at 29 weeks gestation. We called the doctor who advised us to head to the hospital. I was given a steroid shot to help the baby’s lungs develop and an IV of magnesium to prevent labor and protect the baby’s brain. Then I was transferred via ambulance to the bigger hospital in Boise where they have a neonatal intensive care unit. I have since had another steroid shot and 2 more IVs of magnesium. I have had bleeding off and on, and they have been monitoring myself and the baby closely. The baby looks strong and healthy! He has a good strong heartbeat and each time they check him on the ultrasound, he looks good! Praise the Lord!!! I will need to remain in the hospital now until we deliver the baby. The goal is to get him to 34 weeks gestation. At that point, the risk of complications due to my water having been broken for so long is greater than the risk of an early delivery for the baby, so they will deliver the baby at 34 weeks. Today, I am at 29 weeks and 5 days gestation. Every day that he stays in the womb is a victory and a blessing!
It has been discouraging to be back in the hospital and to once again have all of our plans turned upside down. I am separated from our children again due to Covid policies. Just when we had all really started working on things together, our plans exploded in our face. As I was praying about all of this, the Lord reminded me of Philippians 1 :6 “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

The Lord is the one who began the good work of this child’s life, and He WILL carry it to completion! The Lord who began the good work of our recovery, will carry our recovery to completion! The Lord who began the good work of our children’s home education will carry their education to completion! The Lord who began the good work of calling our family to be missionaries in Romania, will carry that call to completion! He is a good Father!!! May you find peace and rest in His good plan for your life too! Thank you for praying for us!
