School during the In Between

September is the first month of fall. It is also the beginning of school for many children and families around the world. This year is different and stressful for most families. With Covid-19, nothing seems normal anymore! Difficult decisions need to be made whether homeschooling, doing online school, or sending children to a traditional brick and mortar school, there seems to be no easy option! We had expected to be in Romania by now, and had much of our homeschooling supplies packed up for the move. If you have been reading the Friendship International updates, you know that our family was involved in a terrible car accident back in June. David and I are so thankful that the Lord spared our lives, preserved our minds, and saved our unborn baby’s life!!! We have recovered so much and have many reasons to rejoice!

Homeschooling means you get to do archery for P.E.

Now September is here and in spite of everything we have been through, our children need an education. Like many other parents, we are prayerfully navigating this educational journey with our children. So, we have unpacked the school books that were packed up. David was advised to be gradual when going back to work, and he thought that it would be wise for us to have a gradual start for homeschooling this year. We have begun with math, reading, and learning Romanian; and plan on adding science, writing, art, history, and geography as the weeks go on. For the past 3 years of homeschooling, we participated in a homeschool co-op. This year we decided that it would be foolish to pay for our children to attend the co-op when we expect to move to Romania part way through the school year. So, in many areas, we are learning to do things differently. Keeping our eyes on Jesus and His call for our family while remaining flexible seems to be a theme in our lives right now. Thank you for praying for us during this in between time!!!

These verses have encouraged us during this in between time. We pray that they are and encouragement for you as well!

For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

2 Timothy 1:7

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.

Ephesians 6:10
Getting better every day!

Children in Romania are also preparing to attend school. Some of these children do not have the basic school supplies needed. With a small gift, you can provide a Romanian child with a backpack and necessary school supplies to attend school successfully this year!
